Once a Redbird, Always a Redbird!

News from the Nest 4/24/26

Note from the Principal's Desk

We had an exciting week at North Elementary! Our third graders had the unique opportunity to experience SIUE’s Planetarium right in our very own gym—an excellent way to wrap up their space exploration unit. We also enjoyed a staff vs. student basketball game. We are incredibly proud of the students who worked hard to maintain positive behavior and earned the chance to attend.

Our 4th and 5th graders did an amazing job at the spring music concert—what a performance! A special shout-out to Mrs. Hayman for consistently putting together such outstanding productions

.
Looking ahead, next week brings even more to look forward to. Our Spring BOGO Book Fair kicks off—be on the lookout for more information from your child’s teacher. We will also host our Swing into Summer Family Night on Wednesday, a great opportunity for students to enjoy games while families learn about summer activities available in our community.

On Thursday, our 5th graders will attend the 1st Annual 5th Grade Jamboree at West Elementary. Then on Friday, we look forward to welcoming AHS seniors back to North Elementary for their senior clap-out—a special tradition for all.

Thank you for your continued support! Continue to keep an eye on ParentSquare as more details about all the upcoming events will be coming soon!

Redbird Role Models - Honesty

In April, we are focusing on honesty—being truthful in our words and actions, even when it’s difficult. At North, we encourage our Redbirds to take responsibility, admit mistakes, and do the right thing. Honesty builds trust and helps create a safe and respectful school community for everyone.

Please Practice Math Fluency and Math Facts!
Please continue practicing math facts with your child at home.
  • 2nd grade: practice addition and subtraction of single-digit numbers
  • 3rd grade: practice multiplication facts through 12.
  • 4th & 5th grade: practice multiplication and division through 12
Flashcards work great for this, and just a few minutes each night can make a big difference in your child’s confidence and success in math!
